Spring Cleaning

Andrew reads for us today from John ch 2 ver 11 - 25. Far too many people think that Jesus, being a religious figure, is irrelevant to Western society. He is associated with the church, considered to be an outdated institution. However, when Jesus arrived in Jerusalem with his disciples, he radically upset the religious apple-cart! He intimated that the Temple was not fit for purpose and would be destroyed. We read later, that he told the woman of Samaria that the day was coming when people would no longer worship in Jerusalem (or Samaria), but would worship the Father in Spirit and in truth. The outer courtyard of the Temple, having become a market place, was stopping the Gentiles from worshipping God. How many so-called churches today do the same thing? What spring-cleaning needs to be done in us (temples of the Holy Spirit), and done in our churches. We need to go out and communicate the good news!
