Carole reads from Eph ch 4 ver 17 - 32. Colins serman this week focuses on how we change with salvation, how we shake off our old selves and change into NEW clothes.

“A change of clothes”

Sin’s that harm Christ’s body

Colossians 3:7-11

In this passage, Paul urges us to rid ourselves of sins that were part of our old life and behave differently, because we can. We are now new creatures in Christ – see Ephesians 4:24.

The sins mentioned can be divided into three groups:

A. Sins of temper – anger, rage and malice

B. Sins of the tongue – slander/abuse/lying

C. Sins of discrimination – religious, racial and cultural

How then can we put this into practice?

1. We must remind ourselves of who we are and where we came from and what the basis of our salvation is.

2. We must determine to be bridge builders and not wall builders. We must reach out to others of different races, extend help and shelter to those who come from a different socio-cultural background from our own. We need to show grace where others show hatred and distain.

3. We must be faithful to the truth. We must be truthful about our sin, about our struggles, about our motives and our thoughts. God knows all about us and he loves us just the same. He knows all about them, and loves them just the same.
